Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Bridge Schools

At Bridge Schools, the safeguarding and welfare of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment across all of our schools, where pupils feel secure, valued and able to thrive.

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and it is the responsibility of every member of our Trust community.

Our Commitment

We believe that all children have the right to be protected from harm and to learn in an environment where they feel safe and supported.

Across Bridge Schools, we ensure that:

  • Safeguarding is embedded in our culture and daily practice
  • All staff are trained to recognise and respond to concerns
  • Safer recruitment processes are rigorously followed
  • Children are listened to and their voices respected
  • We work closely with families and external agencies

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)

Every school within Bridge Schools has a trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and deputy DSLs.

They are responsible for:

  • Managing safeguarding concerns
  • Supporting pupils and families
  • Liaising with external agencies
  • Ensuring safeguarding policies are followed

To contact a DSL, please visit your child’s school website or contact the school office.

Types of Safeguarding

Safeguarding covers a wide range of issues, including:

  • Physical, emotional and sexual abuse
  • Neglect
  • Child-on-child abuse and bullying
  • Online safety and exploitation
  • Domestic abuse
  • Mental health and wellbeing concerns
  • Radicalisation and extremism

We take all concerns seriously and respond promptly and appropriately.

Online Safety

Keeping children safe online is a key priority for Bridge Schools.

We:

  • Teach pupils how to use technology safely and responsibly
  • Monitor and filter school systems
  • Work with families to promote safe use of devices at home

Parents and carers are encouraged to speak to their school if they need support with online safety. Our school websites also provide a host of extra information and advice.

Reporting a Concern

If you are worried about a child, it is important to act.

You can:

  1. Contact your child’s school and ask to speak to the DSL
  2. Report concerns to your local authority safeguarding team
  3. Call emergency services if a child is in immediate danger

If a child is at immediate risk, always dial 999.
