Brunel became a "converter Academy" on 1st August 2011, these Academies are publicly funded schools that are free from local authority control. The opportunity to become an Academy was a result of our OfSTED inspection in November 2010 which graded the school as good with many outstanding features. Amongst the outstanding features is our Early Years department which comprises our pre-school, Nursery class and Reception class. The management and governors took the step to become an Academy after much research and consultation and with one aim in mind: what would be the best for the children in our school community and for their education? We believe that becoming an Academy has allowed us to shape the curriculum and direction that the school takes so that we can continue to develop and improve the way we meet the needs of our pupils and provide more opportunities to enrich the support for all of them.
